Waxing

What are the benefits of waxing? Waxing can lessen the density and soften the texture of the hair over time. Waxing is a great alternative to shaving because it severly decreases the risk of ingrown hairs and help you avoid irritation caused by shaving.

Is it Painful? Most clients experience some discofmort during the service. Waxing on a regular basis can decrease the amount of discomfort felt each time. I have been waxing for 10 years and can complete most service, including brazilians, in under 15 minutes.

How often should I wax? Each client is different, but I recommend coming every 4 to 6 weeks. Too soon can potentially lead to ingrown hairs and a less than perfect service. If the hairs are not long enough they have a tendency to break or the wax is unable to grab them. Longer than 6 weeks can lead to the hair texture and density returning to  how it was prior to waxing. This can make your service more painful.

What kind of wax do you use? I use Berodin brand hard wax for every body part. Hard waxes are applied to the skin in the direction of the hair growth and they dry to create their own strip. This process is much more gentle on the skin than traditional strip/cloth waxes.

Do you double dip? NEVER! The wax does not a reach a temperature that would kill any bacteria. I use a new tongue depressor to apply every strip. I also wear a fresh pair of non-latex gloves for each service.

How do I prevent/treat ingrown hairs? Some clients experience ingrown hairs, while others do not. It is most effective to work on preventing ingrown hairs by consistently exfoliation your skin and applying lotion on a regular basis. This helps remove any build up of dead skin and moisturizes the new skin. If you do get ingrown hairs,  I offer a Blemish Control Gel for sale in the salon. Please feel free to ask me more about what products would be best for you when you come in for your appointment.
